This is a review for Abdo’s other tour of the monuments of Marrakesh. My souks review is also included on the walking tour of Marrakesh page. Abdo again provided us with a wonderful walking tour experience especially through COVID, where several monuments in Marrakesh are currently closed by the government. We did start with Dar el Bacha, the Museum of Confluences, which is an amazing riad displaying the multitude of cultures inhabiting Morocco. Bacha Cafe is also a hidden gem, so don’t miss that. We saw the Royal Palace, Dar Si Said (a very good museum dedicated to the history of Moroccan carpets and rugs), El Badii Palace, the Blue Gate, and, of course, La Koutoubia and the surrounding parks). So ready for the kicker here? My iPhone was actually stolen out of my hands close to Dar Si Said by a motorcyclist who must have been stalking us. I was dazed when he yanked it out of my hands, and sped off down the quiet street. Abdo, our guide, actually ran down the souk road after him, yelled to another young guy at the end of the road to stop the thief. The young guy kicked the moving moped, which jarred the thief’s hands, setting loose my iPhone. Eventually. I walked down the street to where everyone was but me, and I discovered what happened, and saw my wife giving the young guy dirhams for his efforts. We consider Abdo a hero in thwarting the potential iPhone thief and getting it back for me. I would recommend Abdo and his tours, and you’ll get a very good. honest and professional man to show you the best sights of Marrakesh.

On our first day in Marrakesh our family of four (with our six and seven year old children) spent an afternoon with Abdul. He was soft-spoken, friendly, and very easy to understand. He took us to several cooperatives so we could drink tea and learn about the herbs and oil produced in Morocco, handmade rugs, leather goods, blacksmithed lamps and locks, and many other artisan crafts. We walked confidently with our guide and visited back alleyways we would never have found ourselves. It was a great introduction to the city and a very interesting experience for us and our children. I highly recommend this guide. Thank you for a great afternoon!
