Huset ligger på en stor privat grund og består af stort og veludstyret køkken med spiseplads, stue med brændeovn, 2 soveværelser og et tredje soveværelse i et seperat gæstehus, tæt på hoved huset. The views are spectacular, of the lake and its surrounding mountain scape; it is a place of pure tranquility. It has 3 bedrooms and an open plan kitchen and sitting room. It has a large double bedroom, and small double bedroom and a room with a bunk bed. It is well known and often listed as one of the most scenic and lovely summer cottages in Iceland.

A forty-five minute drive away from Reykjavík, in the beautiful fjord Hvalfjörður and by the lake Meðalfellsvatn, the cottage Sólvellir is located. The surrounding area is full of nature and has many exciting hiking trails, and during the winter there is a high chance of northern lights.
