L'antico borgo in cui si trova, Mercato Saraceno, esisteva già nel 1153 quando Saraceno degli Onesti volle creare un mercato vicino al mulino ad acqua, sullo spiazzo vicino al fiume dotato dell'unico ponte sul Savio tra Cesena e Bagno di Romagna.
