Our favourite eating places nearby are Swinside Inn and the Ivy Restaurant in Braithwaite. Keswick is a mere 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk for eating out, shopping and outdoor sports.

Braithwaite House Rooms is an historical building dating back to the 1600s, offering explorers a cosy rest stop in the heart of Braithwaite village. Themed around the minerals mined nearby in days gone by; we offer the Gold Room; a one bed apartment. The bedroom features beautiful views of the North Western fells, and provides a cosy retreat during your stay in Braithwaite. Uniquely, the building offers The Village Shop & Tea Room, which sells breakfast, lunch, groceries and gifts.

Otterbield is a wonderful top floor apartment in the newly renovated Derwent House in Portinscale. Its many original features offer a unique place to stay for two people, with outstanding views of Derwentwater. it utilises the roof space so please note that some areas of the apartment have restricted headroom.
