My place is close to public transport (near the train station and bus stop) Close to shops, cafes, restaurants and all the amenities of a little french town - on Sundays there is a market - there are walks by the River Aude and in the mountains -. You’ll love my place because of the coziness - it's a traditional french town house, built in the 1600's of stone, renovated without loosing the original qualities. Short walk to the dinosaur museum and the museum of hats. The house has wifi.
The owner is an artist and the house is hung with original artworks. The furniture is very french - a mix of classic and cheerful :) There are many books if you like to read, should it rain or you feel like resting up. Mostly English who-dunnits, a shmattering of French.
All the house is yours, no garden but plenty of open space about.

Esperaza is in what is called Cathar country - the major sites of the castles of the Albigensia and Cathars are but drives away. Up the hill is Rennes le chateau where the book Holy Blood Holy Grail is sited, likewise Dan Browns Da Vinci Code. We get a lot of esoteric tourism as a result, including people searching for Mary Magdalene. It's a very spiritual area; the air is crystal clear and clean, which helps! Fossil hunters will have an easy time, they are everywhere in the hills. Monday night is night market - brill fun - the swimming lake at Quillan has just opened and there are others in the hills.
I'm an artist, mostly a painter nowadays though installation and performance figured in my past. Live happily in Esperaza with my husband Bob, a german/belgium shepherd dog called Lily, a tortoise called Oswald, a rabbit that lives free in the garden, ( Jess), and Tango, Big Rico, little Puerto the parrots. Since its a paradise here I rarely go anywhere else. Work or family might call me away but not more than twice a year, generally.
