I live in a small town of a thousand people which is the historic capital of the Perigord Vert, in the north of the Dordogne. This town is the real thing when it comes to French rural life. We have our own fortified chateau, several cafes and restaurants and a weekly Thursday market - the neighbourhood is very safe and friendly, with local shops, pharmacy and doctors close by.
My place is best for solo travellers or couples looking for a short stay.
My house is a traditional 18th century stone town house in the centre of the town and I am lucky also to have a walled garden which runs along the street and has its own entrance. Its only a two bedroom house but is very spacious, which is why its possible to have a double bed, seating and study area all in one room.
You are welcome to sit in the garden and to use the kitchen and washing machine if you are staying more than one night. I usually leave a shelf in the fridge and one in the larder free for guests to store food, by arrangement.

As I work from home I am quite often in my studio at the top of the house, when I am not out drawing or taking classes. I am always happy to make new friends, but respect people's space when they need it. This is a very easy going household and I just want my guests to feel comfortable and relaxed, a home away from home.

I do have a dog, and whilst he is very well behaved and friendly you need to like dogs to stay in this house! Whilst we love other animals this house is not really suitable to have other pets visiting.

I am an outgoing and friendly person who enjoys meeting all sorts of people from all sorts of countries. I am originally from the UK but moved to France two years ago to fulfil my lifelong dream of working full time as an artist. So I know how travel can change your life, as it changed mine when I first came to the Dordogne in 2013. I love animals and have a little bichon frise dog, Charlie who is my pride and joy. Love me, love my dog!
Apart from art I enjoy making things, cooking, knitting, sewing - there are always creative projects on the go in this house which is a project in progress too as it is over 200 years old and I have only been in it a year - there is some still some decorating to do (you may need to forgive the bare plaster in the hall and one wall of the living room, I just haven't been able to make a decision on them yet).
This is not a noisy household, and the silence of the town at night is quite magical in its velvety softness, but there is always the sound of laughter and a friendly welcome to any visitors chez nous.
