Our house is underneath the two famous blue dome churches. It is a traditional cave house on the picturesque cliff with incredible panoramic views. It is a couple minutes walk to the main streets of Oia. You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the views, the location, and the privacy. The house consists of a bedroom with a large double bed, and living room with a single bed/sofa.

The space is traditional in that the layout is original. You can live how traditional Santorinians lived, but with a touch of modern technology! (No wifi or air con however, as the house is a cave and cool enough in summer)
It is small but sweet, and we have tried to make it as homey and cozy as possible for ourselves, and for you.

We provide you with maid services, and can offer touring tips. We also provide you with sheets, towels, fridge and cooking surfaces. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils, plates and glasses so you can plan the ultimate dinner on our balcony with the best view of the Caldera. Please note that these are our quaint collection of things. They are functional and clean, but not brand new. Also because the house is located in Oia, which is a cliffside traditional village, there are stone stairs you must use to get to and from the house.

The cave is really cool and simple and makes you feel like a real local, different from the hotels. There are a lot of stairs, but if you want to go to Oia you will take a lot of stairs. So, just live it! Eri (Megan's friend) met us at the bus station of Oia and she was very kind and helpful with our check in and check out. I recommend!

We were a bit disappointed with our stay as the place was still not ready at 6:30pm, cleaning was rushed and the place felt unclean. While Megan and her local host were helpful, the cave did get quite hot during the day access to the cave is really only possible if relative fit and small luggage pieces. There are some steep and narrow steps to navigate. The cave is very basic and I would not stay here again, however it is probably one of the cheaper options in Oia.

If you're looking for that traditional Greece experience, this is it. It's exactly what I picture when I think of Greece. However, believe me when I say traditional. It is small, not big enough for 3 people, which was my party...or tall people. Also note that the bed is just a pad, on a wooden slab, on stone. Not exactly what me and my pampered friends are used to. Speaking of privilege, the shower and the toilet are the same thing. But I'm so glad I stayed here, I recommend it. The view itself is worth it. Also Fabian, the guy who checked us in, could get it.

While the view in incredible the heat during the day and lack of air-conditioning makes it unlivable during the day. The stairs to get to the place are very challenging, if you are not young and fit, do not book this place. The dog next door pooped on the adjoining patio and the smell is horrible and was not cleaned up for 12 hours. Wish I had not booked this place, spend a little extra and stay somewhere livable.

I stayed here for a longer time, 9 days, and the view from the house is when you first step outside. I experienced a lot of beautiful dawns and sunsets. This is a quaint, small house that won't have the amenities of a five-star hotel, but will have incredible value and privacy, and was plenty of space for one person. I came in the middle of August (high season and summer), and the lack of air conditioning and wifi did take some getting used to in the hot summer weather, even with the provided fan. It cools significantly at night, though. If you get a phone and data, service may still be spotty. Santorini doesn't have any phone towers and relies entirely on satellite coverage. I had to call Megan's friend Eri in order to get to the house; there are no addresses in the actual village, so you have to be led by someone who knows where it is. As an international traveler, there wasn't a place I could find a SIM card at the airport, so I ended up taking the bus to Oia terminal, where there is a tourist shop where I asked for the telephone. There are also some grocery stores here, and I highly recommend buying some water (legally controlled at about 0,50 euro for a giant bottle). The water on Santorini is not potable, so if you get thirsty during the night, you'll want to have something bottled in the fridge. The steps to the house are part of the village. It looks like they're hand-cut from the rock of the cliff. Read: they're old, irregular, and do take some getting used to. I was fine with a backpack with a roller luggage and a backpack, but it's definitely about 3-4 flights of stairs, one of which are tall and steep. There are comments from other reviews that talk about mold in the bathroom. I'm allergic to mold and was very concerned about this before I got to the place. I was totally fine and didn't see any mold, so just want to lay that one to rest. One last thing—Megan's friend Eri was incredibly friendly and checked in on me via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) all throughout my trip, once I got a phone. She offered to help me book tours and was very open to talking to me about getting around. On my first night, I had delicious fava at the restaurant she works at, where her boss was playing traditional Greek music. It was a great and magical way to start me stay.

This house is the vacation house of my boyfriend's family. He can tell you stories about digging into the cave, and bringing up buckets of stones!
We met ten years ago, and over the years fell in love with the village and each other.
I am Canadian and he is French Greek. We are both passionate about cooking, traveling and the beach.
