Our family friendly, lovingly restored 1950s wagon is located in our field, which is a very quiet place and a great spot to admire the sunset. You are totally immersed in nature, with fields, trees and a brook and can get away from it all. Yet, you are only ten minutes drive from Axminster, great walks, and the sea at Lyme Regis or Charmouth.
As far as we know, our 1950s wagon started its life as a road workers vehicle to be towed behind a steamroller. We have now lovingly restored it making it a hideaway with a vintage feel. It now has two main rooms. The first, accessed by stable doors, is a kitchenette area with a kettle and toaster, a small table with stools where you can sit while enjoying the view. The second is a bedroom and living area. This has a comfortable double bed with a pull out bed underneath.. However when this bed is out, there is not much room to move about. We feel it can comfortably sleep two adults and 2 small children or extra adult. There is a wood burner in this room so please be careful if you have children.
In between, there is a small basic shower room with a cassette (caravan) toilet. We are not mains water.
The wagon is in a field and you can park about 20 metres away in the stable yard. Coming into it there is a raised lip to prevent water coming in, which can be a struggle for very low cars.

We live next door to the wagon and we are happy to help. We can advise you on things to do and places to go.
However we are not always around as we also run a smallholding, have two children and jobs. If not here, we are easy to reach by phone.

Please note a few things. The wagon is an old thing and comes with its quirkiness. We are not mains water, which means water is a precious resource and is not potable so you also need to bring drinking water. There is no kitchen as such nor a fridge, only a kettle and toaster, although you are welcome to bring your own bbq and enjoy the space outside.
The toilet is a cassette toilet like the one you would get in a campervan - when it's full it needs emptying, so you must tell us before it overfills.
If you feel like a bit of pampering, we can arrange Yoga or Mindfulness classes and on site therapeutic treatment with enough notice - please ask for details.
Children are welcome but you will need to bring bedding for them. We feel the space is small too small to accommodate two older children, but toddlers and primary school children should be fine.
We have two children of our own, aged 8 and 5 who roam free and wild.
Dogs are also welcome but again please bring any bedding they need and be aware that cattle often graze in the nearby field. You will need to clear up after them including in the field. We also have a dog on site.
Horses are also welcome. Given enough notice, we could provide stabling and pasture for one or two horses.
Please note, there are chickens in the field, they are not completely free range since the foxes and badgers have been around a few times, but are enclosed within a fence. There is also a cockerel but if he bothers you in the morning, he can come into the house to sleep.
- No shoes in the house. Quiet evenings.
