Our hogan is located just beneath the 'Sentinel' Mesa of Monument Valley. Many Hollywood movies have been made here, and early traders named these mesas into their own interpretation. We will be happy to share our names for these giant mesas.

There is a wash area, and a place for morning coffee. Some dishes, & cook wares are available; just bring your menu & ingredients. A woodstove is available with firewood. There is an outside fire pit as well but bring your own fire wood for out side pit!

Akses tetamu

We provide an outdoor out house (restroom). A fire pit just outside the hogan with outdoor lounge furniture. Also I got a grill outside if you need to cook steak..

Interaksi dengan tetamu

I am excited to share my culture and traditions with you. Possibly a frybread demonstration, some Navajo songs & dancing.

Perkara lain untuk Diketahui

You bring your own showers supplies, wood for fire pit, and any other your welcome to experience our traditional culture!

It was a great experience staying in a traditional Navajo hogan. It is a wood structure covered with sand an clay to retain heat. The wood stove warmed up the place quickly. Rosalena was a great host, driving me to the Sentinel Mesa for sunset views of the Valley.

Really amazing experience in a native Hogan. Unfortunately we missed the sunset, but the sunrise made up for it. Totally worth a stay!

It was a great experience staying at Rosalena's hogan. It was clean and comfortable and truly unique for us city folks. We also enjoyed spending time talking with her and her family. Rosalena's nephew, Shane, took us on a nice hike up to Sentinel Mesa for a great view into the valley.

Woah, what an unforgettable experience. Staying right in Monument Valley, surrounded by incredible views. We felt very lucky to be there. The Hogan itself was really comfortable, we we're given plenty of firewood to stock the fire, which kept us toasty through an October desert night. The bed was more comfortable than the past few nights of motels and glamping, and can't be knocked. Roselena was really friendly, great at communicating and told us all about her family, the area and the Hogan. Absolutely the best bit was Roselena telling us about a hike that takes you to an overlook on a nearby Mesa which we hiked up at dawn. It was just the two of us escorted by a neighborhood dog who followed and then led us up a precarious dirt trail. We watched dawn rise over Monument Valley, sat on a Mess, completely alone and in awe. Later that morning a local guide came to offer us a guided trip along the hike we went on, and told us how he built the trail himself. Yes there's an outhouse, not an en-suite. No, there's not running water or wifi. Yes, there's a dirt floor. But that's the point. It was an utterly magical stay and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic, local experiene with wonderful people.
