Unlike most hosts, I allow you kitchen access all day and allocate you space in the fridge and kitchen cupboards. I will provide breakfast items but you wouldn't want to eat anything I'd cooked, so you should prudently cook your own.

My house looks English and I am English. Be warned, you might experience some laconic Anglo-Saxon humour. I can accommodate eight people in five rooms. So if you want to stay with an elderly Brit being as Jeeves-like (but not Fawlty-ish) as he can, then my rooms will suit you well.

The house is almost elegant and I am very proud of it. It is a large house, almost a 100 years old but fully modernized. It is situated in the historic neighbourhood of Westerwood - East Lake Dr. - comprising mostly early 20th century houses, just to the west of downtown Greensboro. You can see downtown from my house yard. But it is rather like living in the country - in the middle of a town.

It is close to family-friendly activities - downtown events, parks (including free basketball and tennis courts), the Coliseum, local breweries, restaurants, theaters, museums, aquatic center (international sized aquatic pool), UNCG, Greensboro College, UNCG Music Centre (EMF), YMCA, short drive to Guilford College (EMF), shopping attractions downtown and Friendly Center, Mid-Town up-and-coming attractions, Guilford Courthouse Historical Park, and downtown shops.

The sunroom is meant only for one. It is a charming room with views of the yard and the water garden. There is half-bath nearby which is very little used but you will have to use the shower up the second floor. Every one who has stayed in this room loves it.

You are warmly invited to come and enjoy this very clean and comfortable house. Use the fully-equipped kitchen room and the adjacent dining room at normal hours. You are very welcome to listen my extensive classical music CD collection on the Bose in the living room. There is also a small house safe where you can store your My house looks English and I am English. Be warned, you might experience some laconic Anglo-Saxon humour. I can accommodate six people in three rooms. So if you want to stay with an elderly Brit being as Jeeves-like as he can, then my rooms will suit you well.

I am very proud of this Tudor revival house - it's almost elegant! I have lived here for almost 40 years and I rent five rooms.

Room 5 is my cheapest room, a very pleasant room with good views of the water garden and usually much sunshine in the afternoons. Situated on the first floor near the front door, it is suitable for the guest who simply wants to sleep and make use of the kitchen, bathrooms and the other amenities of the house. The room has a single divan bed. It is near the first floor half-bath which is rarely used by others and the guest can use the second floor bathroom for showering.

Each week my beautiful year old grand-daughter, Ava, spends a few afternoons here.

I assume you'll be respectful of other guests and their rooms.

I just wanted to tell you some items which might help you decide if my house and/or Greensboro is the place for you to visit.

I can accommodate seven people in four rooms. So if you want to stay with an elderly Brit being as Jeeves-like as he can, then my rooms will suit you well. In the best traditions, I will ask you what your party likes for breakfast and make sure it is here for you - within reason of course.

Mine is a large house, 90 years old but fully modernized. It is situated in the historic neighbourhood of Westerwood, mostly early 20th century houses, just to the west of downtown Greensboro. You can see downtown from my house yard. But it is rather like living in the country - in the middle of a town.

I am very proud of this Tudor revival house - it;s almost elegant! I have lived here for 35 years and I rent three rooms.

This house is located about twelve miles from the Triad International Airport. Interstates I-40, 1-73 and I-85 are 5 easy miles south of the house; Routes 220, 70 and 29 are some 2 miles away - east or west. The bus and Amtrak depot is just over one mile from the house. Free parking is always available in the driveway or off-road across from the house. The
city bus stops are a five minute walk away.

The Westerwood neighborhood is very old, tranquil and picturesque - great for relaxing, exploring and walking. I built an curious water garden west of the house with sitting areas, which you will enjoy. Just across the road, there is a very nice path which runs for several miles alongside the stream (which I did not build!).

Each week my beautiful year old grand-daughter spends a few afternoons here. So if you have a child around that age, I'm sure she won't complain about your child using her play-pen, high chair, jumpy-up- and- down thingy and her toys, or even the stroller. We could easily put her cot in your room for the nights. I am children friendly, often mistaken in December for Mr. S Claus.

You are warmly invited to come and enjoy this very clean and comfortable house. You may use all amenities downstairs and the two exercise machines (weight machine and stationary bicycle) in the basement. Use the fully-equipped kitchen room and the adjacent dining room at normal hours. You are very welcome to listen my extensive classical music CD collection on the Bose in the living room. There is also a small house safe where you can store your valuables.

The following are I mile or so from the house:- downtown, with the Carolina Theatre, many restaurant s (of various cuisines), night clubs and several brew pubs; the Coliseum and the international-sized Aquatic Center pool; UNCG and Greensboro Colleges; the Greensboro ball-park; the downtown YMCA; the UNCG music hall (EMF) is a short walk away; Guilford College (EMF) is short drive away; two multiplex cinemas; free basket-ball and tennis courts; and the Friendly Center, a large Mall with the usual selection of shops/restaurants etc. The popular Battleground Avenue is very close, leading to Battleground Park (site of the pivotal Guilford Courthouse skirmish of 1781 - (but why would anyone ever want to fight the redcoats?) There are several churches (Protestant and Roman Catholic) and a synagogue nearby.

Greensboro is situated at about the geographic middle of North Carolina, a really scenic and delightful State. Further afield, you can go west to very Old Salem (25 miles) in Winston-Salem, the mountains (arty-crafty Asheville, with Vanderbilt estate) or east to the sea (the Crystal Coast and Myrtle Beach just over the border in S.C), both taking 2 - 3 hours on I.40. Going south, I would recommend a visit to the potter's community at Seagrove (Jugtown) and thence further south to Pinehurst where all they do is to play golf and tennis all day. North, another charming place to explore is Mount Airy (which you might know as Mayberry) with quaint shops and the Andy Griffiths museum and Pilot Mountain nearby. Further north, in Virginia, you have numerous battlefields and, for steam engine enthusiasts, Roanoke VA museum which occasionally sends steamers (like 'ole 611) down to Greensboro. Of course there are many, many more attractions which I probably don't even know about!

Come and enjoy your stay in Greensboro NC - there's lots to do - or not! It's up to you.

I expect the same from you as I expect from myself as a guest: free to come and go as you like, but respectful of keeping common areas tidy and being mindful of noise late in the evening/early in the morning.

This is a good location and was a quiet and beautiful neighborhood with a creek and easy access to a major road to the down town area. The room was clean along with linens and all access to the kitchen. The host was very informative on what was expected of a guest. ( Common sense of what I would expect from someone in my house.)

I am a 77 year old widower and retiree. I enjoy spending my time going for walks and working on carpentry projects. I am an avid church goer, but I'm not pushy about religion. I have a granddaughter whom I care for deeply and sometimes babysit in the afternoons (but she does not live with me). Having been born and raised in England, I still retain my British accent, however I have lived in Greensboro for 35 years.

My loves in life are church, classical music, my two daughters, my grand-daughter and Indian food.

My favorite films are Brief Encounter, Murphy's War, and the Godfather, but generally I love the film medium.
