We’ve just spend a fabulous 5 days at Mike and Esther’s place. It’s set in a picturesque Dutch village. It’s a pretty new development, so the house is in fact brand new. And there even is a windmill a 5min drive away, just so the Dutch countryside feel has all the boxes ticked.
The place itself is lovely. Open plan living, dining, kitchen and direct access to a huge terrace. There is also very conveniently a powered room on the living floor. I do have to also mention the super cool chairs on the dinning table…if you stay at Mike's place you will know what I mean. I was having massive chair envy!
Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms as well as the bathroom (which also has a washing machine). The master bedroom is more of a master suit. It’s pretty big! You could easily fit another king bed in there. One thing worth mentioning: there are plenty of towels…like a football team would find enough towels in the bathroom. Not a given for Airbnb places. For some reason a lot of places like to ration towels…no idea why…but doesn’t matter, Mike has towels totally covered!
The reason we had picked this place in particular was the location. It’s within an hour of a lot of things to explore (by car!): Amsterdam (use Park & Ride at the Olympic Stadium and take public transport into town, P&R is just 1 Euro if you follow the instructions correctly), Utrecht (it’s almost like a small version of Amsterdam), Gouda (yep, there’s where Gouda cheese is from, you can also find traditional cheese farms in the area…their cheeses are amazing), Kinderdijk - Windmills…lots of them! Anyway, you get the idea…lots of options to entertain yourself for days without traveling far distances every day.
One last note: I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Esther, but Mike and he is lovely. Helped with any inquiry we had. And had left us a little welcome spread of cheese and those delicious dutch waffles…super thoughtful and a welcome little treat for us.
Overall I would highly recommend this Airbnb to anybody who wants to explore the area and is looking for a nice place with all the amenities and plenty of space but without breaking the bank. We definitely will be back if we venture to the beautiful Dutch countryside again.
