All are welcome! We've converted 1/3 of our home into a separate space, a blending of our values of hospitality AND privacy.
Private Guest Entrance with keypad for flexibility (for early check in, contact us). Private bathroom with 2-person size shower. Clean comfy rooms, 2-3 beds (queen, full, & air mattress), home gym, self-serve breakfast, fridge, microwave, etc! Easy direct drive from I-5 to our quiet spot for business travelers, couples, golfing buddies, concert go-ers, and small families.
The Guest Wing is a separate section of the main house, with a locked door between, near the laundry. The Loft, The Garden View Room, and the private bathroom all have locking doors. There are NO gates on the stairs up to & down from The Loft, so our Listing may not be suitable for some children.
We reserve our driveway solely for the use of our guests.
Guests also have a private door leading to the back garden.
There is a small common area, with a Gateleg table and chairs, coffee & tea supplies upon entering the space. You will also find a drawer of postcards & other supplies for your use in this table. This is across from the laundry. To the right you will find the garage (gym, fridge, microwave, self-serve breakfast area).
The exercise equipment includes a Nordictrack recumbent bike, a PRO-FORM treadmill, free weights, and a MARCY Fitness Stack Home Gym.
Children are NOT allowed to use the gym equipment and must be supervised in the garage at all times, please.
Guests LOVE our beds: The Loft, upstairs, has a queen sized Sleep Number bed ("What's your sleep number?"), and The Garden View Room, our ground floor room, has a very comfortable firm full sized bed & a comfy rocking chair.
For groups who need to sleep 6, we have an air mattress.
The Loft also features a work table/sitting area (can accommodate up to 6 people), tv/vcr with Roku (Netflix, Crackle, youtube, etc.), classic & family movies, exercise tapes & a yoga mat, and a plush rug that is great for floor exercises.
In good weather, there are pleasant seating areas outside, including the Angel Bear Garden in the back, and the grape pergola breakfasting area directly in front of the Private Guest Entrance. Smoking is allowed only in these outdoor areas, and we are a 420-friendly accommodation. Please ask us for ashtrays.
There are picnic blankets available for your use in fine weather (but, please give us notice, so we can keep our sweet & friendly dog from inviting herself to your picnic - haha!)…
Our pets would love to meet you in either the front or back gardens (1 cat, 1 medium sized dog); but we can also coordinate with notice from you to avoid meeting the dog if you prefer to relax in the back garden on your own. While friendly, our cat is less easy to herd, not to mention the other kitties that live in the neighborhood :-}
Guests have a private entrance to the Guest Wing, and also to the back garden.
The laundry is available to Guests at any hour (excepting after 10:00 a.m. on the day you check-out), & all supplies are provided; however, please do not wash heavily soiled items (sandy beach clothes, dog, horse, or other pet blankets, automotive towels) or large items (comforters), as this is a stacked H.E. washer/dryer (smaller than regular top-loading washers, & much much smaller than commercial washers).
We do share the laundry with Guests, but strive to do our laundering around our Guests' schedules & convenience, during times that will accommodate Guests' privacy & schedules, with notice to Guests, and around the same time my wife is tidying up the common area, checking if fresh towels are needed in the bathroom or gym area, & resetting the breakfast bar for you.
We also share access to the garage, where Guests will find a full size fridge, a microwave, the self-serve breakfast makings, as well as the exercise equipment. Guest supplies (dishes, etc.), are kept in the brown slatted cabinet. The microwave is on top of this cabinet, as well as treats my wife may lay out for you to enjoy.
Above this cabinet is a World Map. Map tacks are provided for you to use to display your own travels or showcase your point of origin!
Next to this cabinet is a very large white board. Colored markers are set out for your fun & artistic expression, & is good also just for communication purposes.
Extra linens are kept in each room, and under the bathroom sink (including hand towels that may be used in the gym). Guests may use any supplies in the bathroom vanity at their discretion.
Children MUST be supervised in the garage at all times, please.
All sports equipment in the backyard may also be used by Guests. If you find raspberries in the raspberry patch behind the shed at the back of the Angel Bear Garden, feel free to indulge!
Feel free to move any of the outdoor furniture around as you need to enjoy the shade, or the sun! If you need any indoor furniture moved, please ask for our assistance first. There is an extra leaf for the table up in The Loft that we can use to increase seating indoors.
Smoking & vaping are allowed only in outdoor areas. Please ask us for ashtrays.
Keep the pets out of The Guest Wing spaces please - especially the neighborhood cats who think they would like to move in!

The private Guest Entrance with keypad allows our Guests to have flexible choices for check-in & check-out times. Check-in prior to 3PM requires our prior approval to see if we are able to accommodate; please contact us for that. While we DO love to meet & welcome new people (that's a big part of why we do this), we also have set up The Guest Wing for as much privacy as you would like. Please simply let us know your preferences, & we will do our utmost to accommodate!

My wife & I are both teachers, meaning we are background checked & fingerprinted. Stay with us with that extra confidence!
We enjoy traveling ourselves: my wife loves the more unique tourist attractions, while I favor the great outdoor & natural scenic beauty available in our region (the Pacific Northwest). Find books in the Loft's bookshelves that run that gamut, and feel free to ask us any questions or for information on what to do while you're in the area: we'd love to help make your stay even more enjoyable! My wife backpacked across Europe for several years, and the very best part about it for her (and that's really saying something, as pretty much every part of it was totally fantastic), was meeting kind Hosts along the way who believed in genuine hospitality. While we're not set up to offer a Full-English Breakfast, we are still as Hosts very concerned that our Guests have happy travels, and that our Guests feel that they have us to call on should a need arise. We're just on the other side of the door that separates the Guest Wing from the main house, so text us, or knock loudly! :-)
1. When booking, please remember you need to list the number of people in your group & ages of any children. There are no stair gates to keep small children from trying to climb up to, or down from, The Loft. Please consider this in deciding if our space is suitable to your needs; if your child(ren) is/are fine with this (because they have stairs in their own home, etc.) please let us know.
2. No smoking EXCEPT in outdoor spaces provided. Please ask us for ashtrays.
3. Please DON'T try to clean dishes in the bathroom sink - it's our job to collect your dishes & replace them with clean ones for your usage. Also, please DON'T try to clean fluids/spills/stains on linens/beds/carpets on your own. Just contact us ASAP so we can try to get the stain out quickly (so it doesn't set in).
4. Your 1st load of laundry is free & included in your 1st night's stay. Additional loads of laundry are $1.00 each, unless your stay is for 3 or more nights.
5. Children are NOT allowed in the gym area unless under direct adult supervision. The common area (coffeemaker, electric kettle), and the garage (gym equipment, microwave, dishware, refrigerator) require that children have an adult on hand for safety.
6. The space only accommodates the person, or persons, it is booked for during the agreed time period. No unannounced extra person, visitor, or guest other than you is authorized in the unit at any time day/night. To have a visitor authorized, please let us know your plans as soon as you can, so that we can schedule to meet your visitor. Please be advised, failure to comply with this rule will cost our booking agreement without refund. Plus, we'll all be very stressed & sad, & no one wants that for their holiday!
7. Please don't allow our pets or any of the neighborhood cats who want to be our pets :-) into the Guest spaces, as sometimes we have bookings from people with pet allergies. Please do enjoy the pets outside, if you'd like! We know they'd enjoy meeting you! HOWEVER, if you'd like to enjoy the backyard without our super friendly dog, just let us know, as she is crate trained (often will just hang out in her crate on her own time, as it's "her space").
8. Let us know if there are any issues with your stay. We want our Guests to have the best stay possible! Communication is the way to ensure that, so please do not hesitate to check with us, thanks!

US AS GUESTS & HOSTS:
I am a quiet introvert who loves camping, being in nature, hiking & walking (countryside & cityscapes); we both have degrees in Art & Education, so we both love museums and exploring outdoor art in public spaces, and discussing these topics;
Tamaya is an extrovert, makes friends incredibly easily, has backpacked across the EU, loves to talk to new people she meets & is always interested in the perspective of others.
I also value quiet, privacy, and the Danish concept of Hygge; Tamaya's background includes the practice of Hospitium (the ancient Greco-Roman concept of hospitality as a divine right of the guest and a divine duty of the host), which she tries to carry forward.
We have tried to design our AirBnB space to try to maximize access to both sides of the coin of being at a BnB: we hope our Guests will enjoy as little or as much interaction as they prefer.
