Argostoli is just minutes away by car or taxi and being the capital, has all amenities. There are banks and supermarkets, chemists, Post Office etc.
The pedestrianised shopping street has a great variety of shops for spending money if desired, or just for browsing. The food shops and fruit market are all along the harbour front. A very popular attraction are loggerhead turtles that swim up to the quayside waiting for titbits from the fishing boats - much to the delight of passing tourists. There are two very interesting museums to visit - the Folklore and also the Archaeological Museum. It is easy to visit the town of Lixouri by the little ferry that runs frequently between Argostoli harbour front and Lixouri.
The town is buzzing at night with a real cosmopolitan feel - plenty of cafes for enjoying your cappuccino, mojito, ouzo or your favourite tipple... and just simply 'people' watching. Often during the summer there are events happening in the main Square. Numerous tavernas and restaurants cater for all tastes with plenty of opportunity to sample authentic Greek food, with lively bars and a nightclub for those wishing a real night life experience. Several taxi ranks are in the town and a taxi would have you back home in minutes.
Kefalonia is an up and coming destination becoming even more popular with the rich and famous - a reasonably common sight being international film stars, musicians, politicians, royalty, sporting icons, sheiks and oligarchs... Many of their yachts moor in Argostoli harbour and most definitely Fiskardo is their main playground.. Just strolling along the streets and harbour promenade, mixing with the locals and the cosmopolitan visitors, is a real pleasure.
Guests, whilst enjoying their privacy, have the benefit of knowing that the owners of the property are on hand if needed or required, whether to give you the benefit of their local knowledge or to provide you with a Greek supper!
