I was saddened to read Roy's review of my condo. I have only been on Airb&b for a short amount of time and have absolutely loved being a host to people who need a relatively inexpensive place to stay when visiting the Bay Area. I only rent it out when I am traveling, which is less than two months out of the year.
I was quite saddened that Roy felt so disappointed in the accommodations I offered him and that he felt that my home was barely worth half its rental price. (Not to mention, that my home has feelings, too, and it was quite insulted by this reviewer's harsh words!) In all seriousness, I understand that my humble abode is not in perfect condition. I tried to acknowledge this in my ad. If I wasn't clear enough, my apologies. But, I can promise you that I clean it fastidiously before any guest comes to visit (and I clean it fastidiously on a regular basis because I have environmental allergies and need it to be very, very clean for health reasons. In addition, in between guests, I pay a housecleaner to come to do a thorough cleaning.) I have purposely priced my condo below its San Francisco Bay Area's fair market value because it is not in perfect condition - even though almost all people who stay in it are fine with it's relatively minor imperfections. Nonetheless, in response to Roy's complaints, I have hired a contractor to begin to fix all the unit's problems and make other upgrades. So, if you'd like a bargain, please come stay at my place soon. You'll get to enjoy very comfortable and cheap lodging in a very expensive area. (Because, after it's all fixed up, I will need to start asking it's true market value -- which is significantly more than what I currently charge).
