Hi, I'm Julie! I am a long-time staff member at Stanford University and have a large, 4 bedroom home near the Dumbarton Bridge in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. One fully furnished bedroom with single bed, desk, chairs and closet is available for weekly/monthly lease. There is a backyard pool, hot tub, hammock and patio furniture. Centrally located between San Jose, Silicon Valley, Oakland and San Francisco. Safe and walkable neighborhood near Don Edwards/Coyote Hills hiking trails.
This is a quiet, clean furnished loft-style bedroom (with closet) upstairs, with a full bathroom in the hallway. The bathroom is shared occasionally with my teen. Downstairs there is a 1/2 bath, large family room with TV, front room with fireplace and library. The back yard has a swimming pool, hot tub, hammock and patio furniture. There is space in the driveway to park your car and space in the garage to store bike/luggage. Oh, and I also have two very friendly dogs named Sunny and Shadow! (Update: My old dog, Shadow passed away in May of 2017 and we just adopted a new puppy in September of 2017. Her name is Summer.)
There is a parking space in my driveway, as well as additional space in garage for storing a bike and luggage. Guests can use wifi and laundry facilities. I keep a shelf available in my fridge and in the pantry for guests to store food. Guests can use dishes but are required to clean up after themselves.

I work full time during the day but am usually home in the evenings. I am a single mother with two teenage children who are sometimes with me and we also have two friendly dogs. Guests are free to spend time with us or just relax in their room. I especially enjoy hosting international students and people arriving for business/studying at Stanford!

Having a car is ideally the best way to get around the Bay Area quickly and conveniently. Public transportation is not as good in the San Francisco Bay Area as other big cities.
My home is 11 miles from the Stanford University Campus. There are three bus options during the week days to Stanford. The Stanford Marguerite (AE line), which is free for everyone, picks up at Kaiser Street or Ardenwood. There is also the Dumbarton Express and the AC Transit (U Line). All three buses drop off at Stanford.
The BART train is the best method of getting to SF from my location. The closest stop is the Union City station (about 5 miles from my house). From there, the train stops in Oakland and then San Francisco. It is approximately 40 minute ride.
Less than a mile from my house is a Safeway supermarket, a Ranch 99 Asian market, Starbucks, CVS and many restaurants and bakeries. The AC Transit bus line can be used to get around the local areas. Many people also rely on the Uber/Lyft taxi service as well but consider renting a car for best convenience. I provide a space to park in my driveway.
