Museum
“Housed in a grand colonial-era mansion, Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum holds an impressive collection of art from Vietnam and beyond. Paintings (on silk and in oils), sculpture, ceramics and lacquerware all feature. You can view contemporary works by some of Vietnam’s most important artists, as well as historical pieces, some dating from as far back as the fourth century. Cham art from the seventh to the 14th centuries is also on display. The yellow and white mansion is a work of art in itself; built in the early 1930s, its captivating details include stained-glass windows, marble floors and lofty ceilings. ”

“Bui Vien Street is the main street of the so called ‘backpackers area’ of Ho Chi Minh City. Here you find a wide variety of inexpensive restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and hotels/hostels. While being seated at one of the places you can soak up the local lifestyle and culture. You can shop, dine and party on Bui Vien Street. The total ‘backpackers area’ consist of roughly four streets and some small interconnecting alleys. To have dinner here is very affordable and will cost you around VND 100-200.000 (US$ 4-8), for this amount you will have a decent meal including a drink. The options vary from Vietnamese, Indian, Italian to Chinese and Western. On Bui Vien street you also find many bars that offer drinks with a view of the busy city life. Depending on the location you can have a beer for VND 10.000 to VND 80.000 (US$ 0.5-3). Besides this there are many souvenir shops that sell affordable gifts ranging from paintings, statues to clothing and bags. As this is the heart of the city centre it can easily be reached by foot or taxi and almost all locals in here speak English. It gets busiest from early evening, around 18:00, with the many bars and pubs popular until 02:00 or even later. ”

“If you are coming down to Saigon and you must definitely try pho (Vietnamese beef soup). There are many places selling pho, you can literally find pho everywhere in Vietnam but this restaurant is very famous in Saigon for its tasty pho. The beef soup here is like made in heaven. The beef tendon is so soft that it melts in your mouth. They sell many varieties of pho besides beef. There is a humongous vegetable plate that comes with the noodle. The smoothies here are excellent too. ”

“An open air bbq beer hall that serves serious American foods. Craving some tender Tennessee BBQ ribs and burgers? Some bourbon oyster shots and buffalo wings perhaps? Wide selections of local microbrewery beers? This is the place to be if you're in the meat feast mode. (not the other kind of meat feast). Best to go at night. It's a bit too warm for lunch. ”

“23/9 PARK In the centre of the Saigon’s famous backpacker area, 23/9 Park is a must know for anyone who travels to Ho Chi Minh City. This park is a great introduction to the vibrant commercial hub that is Saigon. Take a seat outdoors and watch or talk with a range of people from all over the world, speaking all sorts of different languages. The Saigonese use this park as an exercise ground, a meeting spot and a classroom. Groups of people gather here to talk and relax in the evenings, families bring their children to play under the trees and young couples hide in the shadows. On the weekend 23/9 Park is especially full, and every evening a number of ladies’ exercise classes take place which, with their booming dance beats and krumping middle-aged mothers, are seriously a must-see whilst you are in Ho Chi Minh City. Feel free to join if you wish! Groups of students studying English also visit this park regularly to talk with the travelers who seek refuge in its cool shade. Grab a bite to eat and a drink of water and take a seat next to the grass to wait for someone to approach you. They’re all very friendly and nice to talk to, and most will talk with foreigners in groups. They may even invite you for a beer or a smoothie after, or take you to their favourite eatery! Given its many groups of students, families and other locals, 23/9 Park is a good place to learn about local life when you visit Ho Chi Minh City. Sit in the shade of a tall tree and relish a momentary break from the chaotic streets of Vietnam’s busiest city, chat with someone new and learn about their life, plan your travels or enjoy a cool drink as you get ready to speak English to a smiling student. ”

Place to eat
“Haven't tried "Snails" before? It's actually the No.1 streetfood in Sài Gòn. As Saigonese, we can eat "ỐC" (sea or freshwater snails) for lunch, dinner, super, midnight snacks... and we never eat "ỐC" alone. Vinh Khanh Food Street is a street that literally have tens of ỐC restaurants opened next to each other. A great place to hangout in group, eating Ốc, having beers, and enjoying the loud atmosphere with hundreds of locals socializing. must must try!!!”

Restoran Makanan Laut
“Ốc Oanh is a very popular place to eat in Saigon. Located along Vinh Khanh Street in District 4, this area is known for having some of the best street seafood in Ho Chi Minh City. Nicknamed “Seafood Street”, there you’ll find several blocks of sidewalk restaurants serving different types of seafood. Alex of Inspitrip took us to Ốc Oanh which is the most famous restaurant on this strip. Luke Nguyen featured this place as well on the second episode of Street Food Asia. Every first time visitor I bring here enjoys this place so much that they would come back to eat again and for sure this place will be packed every time you come back. ”
