Kedai Pie
“Sweet-tooths the world over come to Lisbon to sample the city's real-deal pastel de nata, the famous egg-custard tarts invented by Catholic monks at Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and most famously served (as pastéis de Belém) at Antiga Confeitaria de Belém since 1837 (and everywhere else in town these days). These crisp pastry nests, filled with custard cream, are baked at 200°C until crusted golden, then lightly dusted with cinnamon on their way to a happy ending in nearly 15,000 mouths per day (50,000 on Sunday).”

“The newly opened food court on the 7th floor has some of Lisbon's best chefs -- the view is nicer and it's less busy than the Timeout Market (Mercado da Ribeira) and there is even our favourite ice cream place Nannarella!”

“Yes, the ones from Pasteis de Belém are the original ones, and yes, they are delicious! But I must say that the ones served in Manteigaria are equally worth it! ”

Arts & Crafts Store
“Everyone knows this story: Catarina Portas has done the miracle of resurrecting dead national brands a long time ago. The shops are the dream of any tourist who is not content with a fridge magnet as a souvenir, but also a must-have place for those who miss the soaps Confiança and canned Minerva. In Intendente, the variety is more than a lot, ranging from pre-electronic toys to stationary ones that stopped in time. Along the way, there are faience, quilts, fashion and various delicacies, all 100 percent Portuguese and with the air of other times. Does it look amazing to you? No wonder this store received a Time Out Award in 2013.”

Kedai Ais Krim
“For me, without a doubt these are the best ice creams in the Greater Lisbon area. They were first produced in Estoril in the 1940s by Attilio Santini (a native of Italy, naturally), who later moved to Cascais. From there, in the decades that followed, his fame spread far and wide. Today, decades later, Santini ice creams are still made by hand, in line with Italian tradition, to secret recipes – some of them with exclusively Portuguese ingredients. A tip: if you like wafer biscuit, order yours in a cone – the recipe for which is also exclusive.”

Kafe
“This is the bakery that brought bolo-rei (a crowned-shaped cake decorated with dried fruit that is usually eaten around Christmas) to Portugal and it still uses the same recipe as in 1829, the year it opened. Six generations later, Confeitaria Nacional is still run by the same family, though there have been some modernisations. In the summer months, it usually organises meals and cruises on a boat/restaurant with a view on the Tagus River.”

Pusat membeli-belah

Pusat Membeli-Belah
“The name of this shopping center is a tribute to Christopher Columbus. The architecture of the space, as well as its original decoration, were adapted to the time of the Portuguese discoveries, one of the most important periods in the history of Portugal. The squares and streets inside the center have names alluding to the 16th century, such as the Avenue of the Discoveries and the Tropic of Cancer Square. It has enough commerce, clothes shops, food stores, stationery, a chapel, a hypermarket, etc. It also has cinemas, sporadic exhibitions, and gardens with several restaurants. It is now the largest shopping center in the Iberian Peninsula with a total of 338 stores and 6.326 parking spaces.”
