“A nice place to chill out and have a bottle of wine. Sometimes can be hectic so you need to ask if they are busy during that evening. On the roof, you can enjoy the sunset and the change of ambience. ”

“The place where Proboscis Monkeys are the king there. They romp freely in the mangrove forest and only come to the place for food. They don't hang around too long so be there before the feeding time start. ”

Restoran
“This seafood restaurant is considered the best in Sandakan. With the view of the sea, friendly neighbours and clean. The concrete pathway can be interesting to walk through as you will find varieties of fruits being sold by the walkway. The seafood is all freshly caught from the sea and the meals there are cheap. Recommended dish will be the Noodle Soup Seafood, butter prawn, steamed fish and many more. Ordering is easy, just look at the photos on the wall and point exactly what you want to eat. Or the alternative is, to look surrounding you and see what others are having and order the one you fancy. Easy to go there, just use the Grabcar apps and they will be at the front gate in minutes. ”

“Arguably the best temple in Sabah with a magnicifient view of the entire Sandakan Bay. The temple itself is nothing sort of a grandeur with its 3 Buddha statues and dragons coiling the pillars inside the temple. The temple was renovated in 2017 and everything inside the temple look new and fresh. A new pagoda is in the midst of construction but it will be a fe more year before you can climb up the stairs to check out the pagoda. ”

“An old temple of Sandakan. Some say it is more than a century old. This temple housed the three deities one of which the Chinese students in Sandakan prayed to for good results before attending to the exam. It is within the walking distance from the town area. The route to the temple is part of the Sandakan Heritage Walk. ”

“This is agreat place for those who wants to have a feel of how Sandakan was during the colonial era. This place brings you back to that 1930s feel. They served western food mixed with local delicacies. Nearby, you could visit the Agnes Keith House, once a famous book writer. She wrote three books about her time in Sabah. You could find it in bookstores around KK and Sandakan. The book titles are Land Below The Wind, Three Cane Home and A Whiteman's Return”
