If you are interested in history, Winchester Cathedral has a wealth of it. From the heroic actions of William Walker to the burial place of Jane Austin. The Anthony Gormley statue in the crypt is a must, especially if the water table is high.

We were lucky enough to get married at St Swithun upon Kingsgate which is a Church of England church in Winchester, built in the Middle Ages in the Early English style. St Swithun's first appears in 13th century records. Worth a quick visit up the steps .

Start your walk near to the apartment on Dorman Road and walk to St Catherines Hill, 333 steps to the top if you would like a fantastic view of Winchester, and walk in a loop past Viaduct Way, down past the Hospital of St Cross and on towards Winchester College and back to the apartment. Around a 5k walk.

Food Scene
Steeped in history, the medieval Chesil Rectory building is now the oldest commercial property in Winchester. A restaurant for the last 75 years, it was taken over in 2008 by the current team who are personal friends of ours. Decorated with vintage chandeliers and beautiful botanical prints, our intimate dining rooms are relaxed, peaceful and brimming with authentic charm. Perfect for lunch with friends, a romantic dinner, light weekday suppers, business lunches or a mighty Sunday roast. Head Chef Damian Brown uses an abundance of seasonal, local produce from our Hampshire doorstep to create our delicious menus. All the menus feature simple, classic dishes brought up to date with a twist.
