My favourite places...

Our most famous attraction just 10 minutes drive from The Byre. Castle Howard is one of England's finest historic houses, set in a thousand acres of sweeping parkland dotted with statues, temples, lakes and fountains. Inside discover world-renowned collections gathered by succeeding generations of the Howard family. It doesn't stop there...kids adventure playground with the new Skelf Island, farm and gift shop, cafes, garden centre, event days. Bridgerton, Brideshead, all filmed here.

Robin Hood's Bay is a picturesque, old fishing village on the Heritage Coast of the North York Moors. It is a fantastic place for adults and children alike. With a beautiful sandy beach, as well as rock pools to explore and ancient fossils to discover. Wandering through its narrow, twisting cobbled streets and alleyways, you can easily imagine the sailors and fishermen, smugglers and press gangs that walked these streets hundreds of years ago. Today it is a vibrant village, with a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants, small shops and places to explore, as well as many stunning coastal and country walks, cycle-paths and bridleways right on the doorstep. I love this place for a breathtaking day out!

City/town information

The drive from your accommodation to Helmsley is worth the trip and gives you an idea or your beautiful location. The only market town in the 554 square miles of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is full of history, character and stunning architecture (including 51 listed buildings). Helmsley is lovely for a wander with lots of local shops and eateries. Don’t forget to bring something back from “Hunters delicatessen”. If you want to do something different then book an afternoon at The Feversham Arms and treat yourself for a dip in the outdoor pool , a spa treatment, afternoon tea, or all 3.
