If you decide to go to Limon Waterfall (Salto del Limon) it can be done on foot or on the small horse. I prefer walking, off the main trail, and recommend bringing or renting galoshes. You should bring long socks. The mud gets mixed with the animal waste and it could ruin your hiking shoes...

Between January and March Samana Bay hosts the population of Humback whales that come from the North to breed.
You can book a tour from Samana (I recomend Whale Samana by Kim Beddall (excelent service, guiding information in English, French, Spanish of course) and Motomarina.
