From June through September (or is it October?), local organic farmers bring their gorgeous produce to Henderson Center on Thursdays, 10to 1. This is a 10 minute drive from the tiny house, and one of the farmers actually lives across the street from us. On Saturdays from 9 to 2, there is an even larger market in Arcata at the plaza. Both are delightful sources of amazing, locally grown food.

Humboldt is not known for decent ethnic food, but Annie's is an exception. Fresh ingredients, flavorable dishes, reasonable prices. Definitely one of our go-to restaurants!

Treat yourself to a day in Su-meg State Park, or even the parks north of Orick. Then stop at the Lighthouse for a yummy bite out on their patio. They make their own buns, as well as ice cream and cones.

This is a sweet zoo set in Sequoia Park. In addition to the zoo, if you don't mind heights, the sky walk is supposed to be lovely. And there are a number of trails in the park that wind through the redwoods.

Two miles up the road from my place are two trails. The main trail is paved for the first mile and passes through the remains of Falk, an old logging town. The Southside trail is narrower, less traversed, and winds up and down through second-growth redwoods before meeting back up with the main trail. The main trail is a total of 11 miles round trip (in and back, no loop). One of my guests proposed to his girlfriend at the top of the trail. They came back from that hike very happy.

Elk River Trailhead & Old Town of Falk Walking Tour

Wander through old growth redwoods and/or picnic along Bull Creek. Forty-five minutes south of my place. There is also a swimming hole on Bull Creek, accessed from Four Fireplaces (a Julia Morgan installation) at Federation Grove.
