Another great hiking option with a semi-flat trail that runs along the river is the C&O Canal Towpath. It actually is 184 miles long and stretches between Georgetown and Cumberland. It’s popular for running, biking, or just walking (our kids like to explore off into the river portions).
If you punch in “Chesapeake & Ohio Canal - Brunswick Parking Lot, 21716, Brunswick, MD 21716” it will bring up the location (it’s just across the river from us, only 3.5 miles away).
