This is one of Icelands most beutiful place, in my opinion. Located right under the "Doormountain" lie these gigantic rocks that once upon a time fell from the mountain and made a huge gap in them (the door). The rocks are enourmous and make you think about what it must have been like when half the mountain came tombling down the hill.... The lakes inbetween the rocks have the most crazy blue collar that I have ever seen. Just stunning.

The cutest little village on the outskirts of Iceland. Home to elfs and fairys, and of course, the puffins. One of our largest, at least most accessable puffin rock, is located there. Many many hiking routes, both for day trips and longer hikes.

A nice museum which showcasese the old times. A really nice hiking area, wit a lot of waterdalls and lies directly underneath Snæfell, Icelands tallest mountain.

One of our most beautiful places. On a good day you can laze around on the beach, search for caves, listen to and look at the birds, try to spot seals and cool you feet in the mud.

City/town information
Egilsstaðir is the largest town in East Iceland. It is located on the banks of the river Lagarfljót in the wide valley of the fertile Fljótsdalshérað district. Egilsstaðir is located on the ring roas and provides all basic services for travellers, with a supermarket, souvenir shops, hotels, an information centre, restaurants and tour operators. It also boasts a quaint and popular Heritage Museum, which has several remodelled turf-houses, replicas of the homes Icelanders lived in for centuries.
