We love Sidmouth, a Victorian seaside town that has kept its character and offers a great day out. Seaside walks, lovely cafes and restaurants, good selection of shops and stunning views out to sea. If you have a sweet tooth...visit Browns Bakery - it is the best!!
The journey up to the castle takes you through stunning Exmoor and is a very scenic route. The castle is a good day out especially as the medieval town of Dunster is where you park. Well worth the 40 minute drive to get there.
