The best Pho in Sydney, hands down. At $16 for a large you'll end up with a very full belly and a smiling face. The venue is also BYO, so you can stop in at Bucket Boys on your way for a craft beer, or pick up a bottle of wine at Liquorland on Marrickville Road.

The Grounds of Alexandria are a must-visit while in Sydney. Some of the best brunch and coffee in the city, the grounds themselves are an awesome example of urban redesign with vegetable gardens, flower shops, a coffee roastery, a petting zoo for the kids, their own resident parrots, and an iconic pig, Kevin Bacon.

Hands down the best brunch in Sydney. Anytime I have visitors in town I recommend they visit Reuben for brunch. One word: delicious. All of it. Always. Yum!

A viking themed bar. Need I say more!? They serve mead and beer by the horn. Yes, that's right.... you can drink out of horns! They also have a great range of hearty, northern european inspired food. A very cool, and novel experience.

Feeling like Italian? Look no further. This family owned and operated restaurant is the go to. It's not fancy, no white tablecloths here, but their veal schnitzel combos are to die for! You will not leave this place hungry!!

If you want to get exclusive, Quay Restaurant is a good place to hit. One of the premier restaurants in Sydney this place is famous for two things; the amazing view of the house which is directly opposite, and the Snow Egg (a desert made famous on master chef which involves the same flavour in 5 different consistencies and textures). I once took the Executive Producer of the X-files here, and he was blown away by both!

A very cool live music venue. Lazy Bones has bands 7 nights a week, so is the perfect place to kick up your feet after a day of meetings and enjoy some funky vibes.

A really cool little hipster bar. They make great cocktails and have a live band most nights. This is also a great place for people watching as the eclectic artists of Marrickville gather to tap their feet.

This hidden speakeasy is a Whiskey lover's must! Hidden down an alley way, you turn the corner, see the bouncer, walk down some stairs and step into a candle lit 1920s bar setting. With over 300 whiskeys behind the bar this is an amazing little hidden spot and a great cozy night out.

The best view in the city. Enjoy a glass of wine and some of Sydney's famous sunshine while looking out at the gorgeous harbour. Easy to get to from the apartment, just take the train all the way to Circular Quay station and walk around the ferry terminal. From the bar you can also easily pass the house into the Botanical Gardens for a leisurely stroll.

Handpicked wines have a selection of wines from all over Australia. At very affordable prices you can taste your way through Australia's grape varieties while also enjoying some cheeses and cold meats. I can personally recommend the collection range Pinot Noirs and the Savarin cheese!

Parks & Nature

An amazing walk, jog or run, this coastal path takes your from Bondi to Bronte. My personal advice would be to walk from Bondi (change at Sydenham station and take the Illawarra Line into the city all the way to Bondi Junction, then a quick bus trip down to the beach) to Cogee and stop at the Cogee pavillion for a bite to eat or a liquid refreshment.

Take the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly. It's one of the most beautiful trips in Sydney, and will give you plenty of delightful views of the harbour, the bridge and the house. When you arrive in Manly there are plenty of shops, the beach as well as a wide selection of great eateries and bars.

Getting Around

If you haven't got an uber account on your phone yet, I can recommend that you should for any time you're not around a train line in Sydney (which will be rare) or if it is very late in the evening. You can download the app from your play store or the app store, and setting it up is easy.

In Sydney we use Opal cards to access public transport. These can be refilled easily at any train station or convenience store. However, you must purchase a card first -- which can be done at any convenience store or major transit station. The closest place to the apartment is the store opposite Cornersmith on Illawarra Rd.
