Food Scene
Several pubs and bistros, all of which are unique. Berkeley Springs is a unique place because they have modern bistros, antique malls, locally famous spas, and a historic privately owned castle. Some of the bistros stage locally produced works of art all of which are for sale. The bistros and restaurants often have live music, and they are all on the same block. Also there is a state owned hot spring bathhouse, that is open year round and very affordable.

Parks & Nature
Hiking, trail riding by horseback (Cheap!!) A big lake with a beach for swimming, fishing, and paddle boats. Great to visit in the summer for swimming or the fall for the beautiful colors. I don't think they do trail riding in the winter.

Great place to go canoeing, excellent service with them ferrying you up and down the river. Great for 2-4-8 hour floats. Excellent fishing, and pretty cheap. It's about one hour from the cabin, on the Shenandoah.

A privately owned locally famous exotic wild life park in Winchester, near the Walmart. They feature rare animals of more than 250 species. Fees vary, and the hours of the park change dramatically depending on the season.

A new facility only about 15 miles from the cabin. Great prices on food. The sporting goods section is also extensive.

Excellent skiing. Very kid friendly, but also challenging for advanced skiers (I haven't skied the whole mountain yet). Less that one hour north of the cabin. Slopes open at 9. Night skiing till 10. It is a dry resort but they allow coolers, and have a BYOB policy.
