We love Mel's for real-deal Southern/soul/comfort food. It's not fancy and there's no booze, but the food is excellent. Though it's on Main Street between the beloved Continental Divide and Maya, it's often overlooked.

Excellent sushi and Japanese comfort foods. We are not fans of their big rolls (so! much! rice!), but everything else is fantastic. They get very busy, so go early!

This place is an institution! Dinner is French and upscale, but we go for the late night menu. The bartenders know what they're doing. Plus, there's always great by-the-glass wines . The basement bar is wood paneled and homey. You might even run into us, since this is our favorite bar in town.

Virginia is famous for our gas station chicken, and Brown's is the best in town. It's a few blocks away and a great place to get some food and snack basics, gas, and even soft serve ice cream. The people who work here are incredibly sweet.

The B&R is your typical bodega, run by nice dudes with a decent craft beer selection. If you need basic emergency supplies but don't feel like driving, this spot probably has what you need.

The Lawn itself is cool, but the beautiful gardens behind the serpentine walls are breathtaking! Not many people explore these gardens, so you probably won't run into many other people. There are excellent climbing trees!
