Food Scene

This restaurant is very popular amongst holiday makers and locals alike. Fresh pasta made on the premises, plus local dishes as well as a great and ever changing 'Specials Board'. Mouthwatering desserts, great coffee and wine, what's there no to like! Medium sized modern restaurant, with professional staff & very clean. Reasonably priced and only a short walk away from El Ancla, or alternatively park the car up in Tias & collect the following day if you fancy a few glasses of the local wine! I do this myself, and call into San Antonio Bakery the following morning to collect fresh croissants on my way to collect my car.

Varied menu including fish, paella, steak, omellete, garlic prawns etc. Good wine selection. I personally LOVE their cheesecake of the house, made with goat's cheese topped with taste bud tingling berry fruits and cream ..... yum yum! I can also recommend the Calamari Romana, (lightly battered) and they do great salads for vegetarians and various soups, including Gazpaco. If you are not very hungry ask for a 'Media Porcion' - (half portion) which is still quite large and great for those of us lwho don't always have a great appetite! For those of you on a budget or seeking value for money, ask about the "Menu del dia" three courses for approximately 8 euros ..... estupendo! Large, clean restaurant & one of the most established restaurants in Tias, offering reasonable prices and good service. Very popular with the locals and visitors alike. Traditionally in Lanzarote the waiter will usually offer you a 'chapito' ie: a complimentary after dinner liquer. The honey rum is an excellent and popular 'digestive.' You can also ask for 'Para llava' (Para Ya Va) ie: food to take out, if you fancy taking a salad, avocado, chicken etc. back to the apartment to eat there just tell the waiter 'Par llava por favor!' Only a short walk from the apartment into Tias centre, and you will find the restaurant on the main Avenida on the left hand side. Free parking outside or nearby.

Because of its fascinating natural beauty and its tiny inhabitants ie: the prehistoric blind white crabs and this is the only place in the world you will find them! Remember to take your camera, and there is also a restaurant if you fancy having lunch or a drink to cool you down.

The store is open Monday - Saturday. Check closing times as these are seasonal, and they also close for major fiestas. Great supermarket, with fresh fruit/veg, meat, fish & delicatessen counters. Also sell traditional mojo salsa, a great traditional gift to take home. N.B, Wrap up well though as this stuff stains! Local wines from La Geria etc. Honey Rum - a popular digestive liqueur. Plus it has a coffee shop inside. Free underground parking for customers' use.

Parks & Nature

Because of its post volcanic eruption natural beauty, and its exhilarating waves which will both relax and mesmerise you! Visit Lago Verde with its fascinating beauty, before walking down to the nearby restaurants. Highly recommended is Bygovate, which is half way down on the left hand side. Here take a table on the lower terrace, down the steps right next to the sea. Here you can relax & watch the seagulls duck and dive, and maybe grab a piece of fish from the commie chef preparing tuna on the nearby rocks. Inhale the some of the freshest air in the world, and watch the slow world go by. Enjoy El Golfo as a whole, exploring the natural labyrinths caused by Mother Nature a couple of centuries ago, Take magnificent photos of the exhilarating and fierce waves, and feel totally at peace with the world. Relax driving on the excellent roads cut out of the volcanic lava fields, & enjoy the lunar landscape with its numerous volcanoes. El Golfo is a must visit, and my personal favourite place on the island. Very popular with locals and visitors alike, you will not be sorry you visited this magical place. You will feel energized after your visit. Also enjoy the Salinas de Jubia (Salt planes) on the way to El Golfo. With its natural mounds of marine salt, which make a great black & white photo!

Getting Around

Times may vary during local 'fiestas' ie: Bank Holidays. Sunday timetable is also different. The bus service is frequent and inexpensive, with many bus stops strategically placed throughout the island. Bus stops in Tias for Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife and further afield. Some guests have used only the bus service to travel to Orzola in the north, and then caught the ferry to La Graciosa. Also returned to their apartment the same way. Guests will find a hand drawn map of bus stops in Tias, in the apartment information folder. Taxis are also inexpensive. For airport transfers use: lastminute-transfer.com Prices are very reasonable and this company has previously transferred some of our guests, so they know where we are! Any problems just shout! We can also recommend an excellent car hire company who will offer our guests a discount or a free upgrade. This company will have all your paperwork ready before you arrive, so NO queueing, plus NO hidden extras or non-refundable fuel left in your tank! Please request details as this British family run company offer you a first class & very personal service. Remember we are here to help you!
