Dinner has a limited menu that includes two choices: a bacon-wrapped filet mignon, served with a baked potato, Texas toast and a quarter wedge of lettuce with our homemade ranch dressing or Kaes Spaetzle Primavera. Both $11.95. Great desserts. No credit cards accepted, only cash. Will likely be a waiting line unless you beat the crowd. Doors open at 5, no credit cards, so bring. Lunch menu features German entrees.

Mount Rushmore National Park has more than just the monument. There is a walking trail that circles under the "faces" and a sculptors studio. We recommend to attend the evening lighting ceremony just after sunset in the amphitheater. If you visit during the day, keep your parking ticket and you can return at no additional cost for the lighting ceremony. Restaurant on site.

Entrance fee but minimal. Takes a long time to see everything so plan for a long stay. Restaurant on site. Legends in Light Laser Show held nightly May 25- September 30.
George S. Mickelson Trail runs through the heart of the Black Hills, connecting Deadwood with Edgemont. The crushed-stone pathway incorporates nearly 100 converted railroad bridges and 4 tunnels. Closest trailhead to our vacation rental is the Burlington Northern Trailhead located in Tracy Park east of the High School in Hill City (approx. 3 miles). There is a daily fee of $4 or an annual fee of $15 required per person ages 12 and over, but well worth the cost. Great for biking, running or walking. Non motorized trail use only.

Dinosaur skeletons, minerals & meteorites featured museum located right on Main Street in Hill City. See the large T-Rex skeleton and other attractions. Could not believe what is in there when I first visited. A modest but incredible natural history museum.

117 Main StDinosaur skeletons, minerals & meteorites featured museum located right on Main Street in Hill City. See the large T-Rex skeleton and other attractions. Could not believe what is in there when I first visited. A modest but incredible natural history museum.
