Things to do in Vågslid/Haukeli

A popular tourist cabin just west of Haukelifjell Skisenter. Great food, and an excellent place to stop after taking one of the many hikes here in Vågslid/Haukeli.

Haukelifjell Skisenter is one of the destinations in Norway recieving the most annual snowfall. Lying on the east side of the Haukeli mountain pass, we are lucky to have consistently better weather than western Norway. All of our apartments are located at the ski area, and are ski in ski out. In the summer the ski area is an excellent starting point for biking trips, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities. We offer bike rentals (commuting bikes), which is a perfect way to get outside and see what the area has to offer. Bikes may be rented for kr 200 per day. We unfortunately do not rent out helmets with the bikes. Please contact us for more information on bike rentals and for information about things to do in the area. Fishing is a very popular activity here in the summer. A day license can be purchased for 80 kr from inatur.no, and gives access to over 70 lakes. Many of the lakes are easily accessible from the road, but a short hike can be very rewarding! Trout are the primary species found here. https://www.inatur.no/fiske/50ec5764e4b092f33faf5094

Haukeli and vågslid are located on the southern end of Hardangervidda National Park, the largest national park in Norway. Hardangervidda is a high plateau in the center of southern norway, and is home to one of the largest strains of wild reindeer. Trolltunga is a very popular destination during the summer. We are located to the east of trolltunga, and make an excellent stopping point for those planning to make the hike to Trolltunga. Trolltunga has become so popular in recent years that it can be very difficult to find accomodations in the area during the summer months, and although we are located roughly 1.5 hours away from trolltunga we have begun to see an influx in guests heading to or coming from this destination.
