McCloud Falls are a great stop on Highway 89. The falls don’t have the staggering beauty that Burney Falls does, but being able to see three different pieces of a waterfall without even hiking is not something you can often do. Also, all of the parking was free, and there was no entrance fee to get into the area, making it a perfect place to spend an afternoon. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Castle Lake is a glacial lake located in the Trinity Mountains, in Siskiyou County of northern California. It is west of Mount Shasta City and Mount Shasta peak. The outlet of the lake drains into Castle Lake Creek, and then into Lake Siskiyou reservoir, part of the headwaters of the Sacramento River. Nearly all of the lake's 47 acres are within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Trails lead from Castle Lake into the adjacent Castle Crags Wilderness area, and on to Castle Crags State Park, including trails to Little Castle Lake and Heart Lake Fishing, camping, and hiking are also available at or near the lake.

Spring water flows in rivulets through fragile alpine meadow full of wildflowers. Peaceful loop trail allows great view of mountain. Sensitive plantlike

This park hold the headwaters for the sacramento river. This underground spring water flows out with highly alkalinized water that people travel long distances to taste for it's "healing" properties. I must see stop for first time visitors
