Turpentine Creek is just a couple miles north on Highway 23 and is home to nearly 100 animals including tigers, lions, leopards, cougars, bobcats, bears, ligers, servals, a monkey, a coatimundi, and a macaw. In the early morning and late evening you can hear the lions roar from our home. Turpentine Creek is a non-profit organization that provides a lifetime sanctuary for all their rescued animals, with a focus on abandoned, abused, and neglected "big cats". The care, safety, and well being of the animals is their number one priority. All animals are treated with the dignity and compassion they deserve.

The War Eagle Creek runs through Withrow Springs State Park and is a great "put-in" place for floating (tubing, kayaking, canoeing, etc.). It is typically floatable from March to mid-June depending on rainfall. It is also a great fishing location. A day of floating or fishing on these gentle waters is relaxation at its best. War Eagle Creek has been referred to as a “miniature version of the Buffalo National River” because of the surrounding scenic bluffs. One unusual aspect of the creek is that it flows north when other (area) creeks flow south. On War Eagle Creek, anglers fish for catfish, bream, perch and bass. Stream-running walleye are also found in the river. The park also features three hiking trails, tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, a pavilion, and gift shop. A unique flower, the rare Ozark trillium, grows in the park.
