The mostly gravel road up the North Fork is slow going, but it's worth the trip for the Huckleberry Bearclaws and Sticky Buns at the Merc! There is a Park entrance a short distance from Polebridge where you can drive to the phenomenally stunning Bowman and Kintla Lakes. You do require a vehicle reservation to get into the Park at this location (but not to get to the Polebridge Merc).

2024 Glacier National Park Vehicle Reservation
From May 24 - September 8, between the hours of 6 am - 3 pm, a vehicle reservation, as well as a Park Pass, are required to enter the park. A portion of vehicle reservations will be available 120 days or approximately four months in advance, starting on January 25, 2024, at 8 am MST on a daily rolling basis. Next Day vehicle reservations will be available at 7 pm MDT for next-day entry starting on May 23, 2024 on a daily rolling basis. Vehicle reservations can only be booked on "recreation . gov" and it is important you familiarize yourself with the vehicle reservation system for 2024.

Glacier Park via Camas Creek Entrance
The Camas Creek Entrance to Glacier Park is more remotely located than the West Glacier Entrance. From our house, you will travel 20 miles up the North Fork Rd, Highway 486. The road becomes gravel after 10 miles. Following the speed limit, you should reach the "West Glacier" sign after 30 minutes from departure. Turn right and go over the bridge, where the road becomes paved. You should reach the park entrance within 45 minutes. If you depart by 5 am, you should get through this park entrance prior to 6 am, if you miss out on getting a reservation at (recreation . gov).
