Spider Mountain is Texas’ only year-round, chairlift-served downhill mountain bike park located in Burnet on the shores of Lake Buchanan, it offers nine bike and hiking trails from beginner to advance level. Only a 45 minute drive from our condo. The less adventurous may choose to visit a local winery, go on a bird tour, or visit longhorn caverns while the others are at the Bike Park.

They also have a "Wild Cave Tour" for the more adventurous. Abt a 23 minutes drive from condo.

But there’s more at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area than just the dome. The scenery, rock formations and legends are magical, too! And the VIEW!!! But you have got to climb it first. The dome is closed after dark, but ranger led night climbs to see the stars are popular. No pets allowed and keep in mind it gets HOT there mid summer. Local Indian Tribes said the rock "sings". And apparently swallowed a Spanish priest...but you will have to visit to learn more! It is about a 90 minute drive, so if you are down there you will probably want to shop in Fredericksburg.

But it is the fall fun we love: mazes, pony rides, pumpkins..we never leave without picking a big mass of flowers. It is about 14 minutes from the condo. For some reason this trip must be combined with a slice of pie from Bluebonnet Grill. You will see!

Located next to their zipline advesture, this is a big on the water obstacle course. And loads of fun. A 75 minute drive from our condo. Lake Travis is not constant level, so make sure this is open before heading over there as Lake Travis is effected greatly when we don't get rain. This cove is one of the deeper coves on the lake though.

14529 Pocohontas TrailLocated next to their zipline advesture, this is a big on the water obstacle course. And loads of fun. A 75 minute drive from our condo. Lake Travis is not constant level, so make sure this is open before heading over there as Lake Travis is effected greatly when we don't get rain. This cove is one of the deeper coves on the lake though.
It was once a hole. A very cool hole. During the Civil War, Confederate soldiers decided it was the logical place to stuff the bodies of Union sympathizers. As you can imagine, it gained some notoriety after that. You will need your GPS to find it, but it is actually a really cool geological formation.

Museum and Visitor Center.. Start off here and learn the history of Buchanan Damn, the first of the Highland Lakes. Damn is open year round and visitor center is open seasonally. Learn how the lake system was built, eventually bring electric power to the Hill County. And the view is spectacular!

Located in Driftwood, TX - Duchman Family Winery is one of Texas Hill Country’s best wineries, and it’s close enough for some South Austinites to visit on a week day. As you head down the long, narrow driveway and see the Tuscan-style buildings, tall Italian cypress trees and expansive vineyard come into view, you’ll feel a bit lighter as the weight of the real world fades away. From the Dutchman, our condo is a 80 minute drive.

Owners Rick and Madelyn Naber are typically on-site and love sharing Texas wine knowledge with newbies. Check the website to sign up for one of the seasonal stargazing experiences. Stop by their Bistro for a yummy meal. The drive from the condo is 45 minutes, past Marble Falls. If you are driving in from 1431 this may make a great stop on your way in. OR you can just visit their Enoteca Urban Wine Bar at 112 US Hwy 281, Marble Falls, if you prefer a convenient downtown location with wood-fired Texas-Tuscan fare, wine flights and a wine shop..they also have a disc golf course.

"Flanigan’s: Texas Distillery & Winery is located in the historic Griffith Lumber Company brick and stone building, circa 1904. Our tasting room is located at 330 N Lampasas St, in Bertram. While across the street at 335 N Lampasas St, is our production facility located in the 1870’s rock warehouse. Stepping into our tasting room doors you will feel you have been whisked back in time. The beauty of this old building (and a little movie magic) will take you back to the early 20th century. In the late 1990’s this wonderful building was the location for the hotel scenes in the 1998 movie “The Newton Boys”. When you belly up to our bar you will have an opportunity to enjoy a sommelier style tasting. You will educated about our products while enjoying the uniqueness we have to offer. If standing at the bar is not your thing, you also can gather with your friends at one of our many tables, sit in one of our Irish Style Snugs (living room areas) or hang out in the courtyard." For casual dining, Boat Town is the place to go. Boat in or drive in. On summer weekend evenings they often have live music. There is a sandy swim beach with a water swing. You can dine in the restaurant, on the view deck or bring your food down to the beach area. We love boat watching. No matter how crazy a boat we dream up..we have found it there. My grandaughters favorite was the pink sparkle one but my grandson likes the odd racing boats we see.

Bluebriar is a great park to launch a boat from, it has a deep draft, dock for loading and room to park your trailor. ($10 fee). Roped off swimming area, shaded playground, bbqs, covered pavillion amd picnic tables. Not sure why the city choose this horrible picture. It's prettier than that.
