Only a 20-min drive away, there are dozens of horses for riding trails, and an amazing animal farm / zoo area where there are exotic animals from around the world, as well as some native farm animals. You're allowed to get close and touch and feed most of the animals. Kids love it!

This is our personal favorite ski resort in the area for the price and overall atmosphere. A stop in Phoenicia on the way home is always a great idea for a little apres ski.

9-whole course on Main St with a seemingly relaxed attitude. I’m not a golfer, but I think they charge $1 a hike at some point in the afternoon on some days. Green fees are $20-25 otherwise.

Lots of Irish heritage and a beautiful drive.
A premier bluegrass festival near East Durham (about 40 min drive) - held in July each summer. I went in 2022 and it’s a wholesome experience.

A ski resort off the beaten path, Plattekill offers relatively challenging trails and is open only Friday-Sunday during the ski season. The drive is less than 1 hour.

This is another one of our favorite places in Windham. Affordable and very good Italian food in a warm, and well decorated, mountain lodge setting. A large bar area in the back with a TV as well.
