Food Scene
Great food that is reasonably priced. Service is good and there is a good atmosphere with families welcomed. Weekends can be busy so you should book then. Known locally as the "Birkie" it is used by locals including us! It also has a bar.

Not far away from us is the Piperdam Resort. Set around a small loch the resort has a range of activities available from quad bike tours to fishing to archery. It has an indoor pool and spa with gym, beauty treatment areas, etc.
Its bar serves good bar meals and has a good atmosphere, as does the restaurant with its views over the loch. The menu is good and although priced a little higher, is still good value for the food that is served.

Our favourite Indian Restaurant. Sit in or carry out they will even deliver!
Great meals and decently priced. It is also next to the cinema complex which is often very handy!

This is the Fish and Chip Shop we would recommend. It's only a take away. It serves good fish and decent quantities, all freshly cooked and not over greasy.

Our favourite Italian restaurant for those special meals out. Great menu and a little more expensive, but well worth it.
We catch a bus from outside the door, that takes us to Dundee City Centre, and then taxi back. No one has to drive!

Sightseeing
The Queen Mother's birthplace, this castle hosts many events throughout the year ranging from Orchestral concerts to vintage vehicle events. Lovely grounds.
The Strathmore Arms in the village at the entrance gates is a nice stop for a drink, lunch or high tea.

One of our main supermarkets which we always use. Loads of parking and has a cafe.
In the same complex there are other shops, not clothing, electrical, furniture, garden etc. Also there is a Burgerking and Pizza Hut.

This centre is made up of a large variety of antique stalls selling everything from silverware to furniture, paintings and linen. There is a modern section too with lovely items like cushions and seating, as well as clothing, cards and kitchenware.
The restaurant is good with a wonderful atmosphere as you sit out on a balcony looking over the stalls. Good menu and averagely priced. Allow a few hours for wandering around!!

This centre is made up of a large variety of antique stalls selling everything from silverware to furniture, paintings and linen. There is a modern section too with lovely items like cushions and seating, as well as clothing, cards and kitchenware.
