Regular and reliable, fairly cheap train service along the coast of the Algarve (furthest West is Lagos). Trains run Lagos - Vila Real de Santo António stopping at Faro and Portimao in either direction. You can even get the train to Vila Real and catch the small passenger ferry to Ayamonte in Spain - just remember the hour time difference for your return ferry!
