Casa do Rio Alva is a very special place with private access to the river! Our country house is located in the village of Secarias in the heart of the nature of central Portugal, 4 km from the village of Arganil and 55 km from the city of Coimbra. Exploring the Alva River from our home is a unique experience, where the following stand out: avocets, bees, kingfishers, crows, swallows, foxes, field mice, frogs, toads and snakes, numerous fish such as bass, bogas and carp, but also trout and eels.

The 100-year-old house is located on the outskirts of Sandomil, a picturesque village flanked by the Alva river and the majestic Serra de Estrela. Guests can enjoy the silence of the nature park from the house and make use of the barbecue area, cafe and beach in the river, while the little ones can enjoy the park at their own designated spot. There is a master bedroom with its own sitting area, another room with a sofa bed, a full kitchen and a full shower room.

Stay in a newly renovated stone farm house built in 1888 on top of an ancient Roman road. Small cosy apartment off the beaten track, ideal for quiet retreats and getaways to focus on writing or creative projects. You will wake up to a breathtaking view of the wooded hills and overgrown farmland. Take long walks in nature or in the small village. Fresh fish available twice a week, 15 mins drive to the supermarkets and 7mins to a smaller grocery store.

We are a family living in nature, welcoming travelers, sharing our garden and riverfront. You'll find a simple farm set up for elementary camping, with compost toilets, outdoor showers (heated when sunny), kitchenette, dinning area, fire pits, river beaches, wi-fi, pizza oven, children's playground, and more. We are at the end of a dirt road (2km), secluded and completely private. You can also order veggie meals or buy some farm products.
