A hidden Taonga in The Hauraki Golf. Wildlife, shipwrecks, Mansion house and more. Kawau Island is one of the larger islands in The Hauraki Golf. Access to the island is by boat and ferry or water taxis which travel daily from Sandspit.

Quietly amble through the elegant subtropical gardens with Weka, Wallabies and Peacocks. Enjoy freshly roasted coffee and tempting treats at the Café, or take a short stroll to swim in the clear waters of sandy Lady’s Bay. It’s an easy walk to the lookout for spectacular views of the Coppermine. The more active can relive history by following the Miners Track through bush and along the foreshore to the Coppermine itself (fun for the kids) or follow Redwoods Track over to School House Bay, experiencing native NZ bush with Tuis, Wood Pigeons and even Kiwis.

Kawau Cruises runs the service between the mainland and Kawau. You book with them to get to our wharf, Bridges Wharf. You can also call them to ask if you can get a shuttle from our wharf to Mansion house for a day trip. (Or you can ask to if they will shuttle you to any other wharf).
