Wildlife observation hides give panoramic views across the saline lagoons, salt marsh and the vast expanse of mudflats that make up The Wash. On the biggest high tides from late summer onwards, tens of thousands of wading birds take flight as the incoming tide pushes them off the vast mudflats. We call this the 'whirling wader spectacle'.

This is one place to witness two of the UK's great wildlife spectacles. On big tides, as the water covers the mudflats, tens of thousands of wading birds are pushed off their feeding ground and settle on inlands in front of the RSPB hides.

World-renowned RSPB reserve with several large hides around the unusual salt water lakes plus viewing areas of the coast to see the spectacular murmurations. The RSPB website gives the best times to see the tens of thousands of waders lifting off the mud flats.
