Have a coffee at the little cafe Trails at the bottom and hike up to the top. The Observatory is an art deco style building and was built in 1935. It is famous for being the location of “Rebel Without a Cause”. See the monument to James Dean. griffithobservatory.org. The LA zoo is here also.
