Head to Blackheath and turn left at Govetts Leap Rd across the railway and left again towards the Shipley Plateau passing local apple orchards. There are magnificent views over the Megalong Valley from the lookout.

A little bit of a drive from the centre of Blackheath and you will find this glorious lookout. Our favourite secluded place to watch the sunset over the Megalong Valley.

A pleasant drive to the western end of Shipley Plateau passing local apple orchards, leads to Hargraves Lookout and magnificent views over the rural Megalong Valley. At the very end of Shipley Plateau is Mount Blackheath, a popular hang-gliding site from a purpose-built ramp near the lookout at 1076 metres. If the conditions are right, gliders soar over the Kanimbla Valley and can sometimes reach Bathurst.
